A cross sectional study on infant and young child feeding practices: a keep for successful nutrition in under-five children attending rural Anganwadi centres, Mysuru

Background: Optimal infant and young child feeding practices (IYCF) are crucial for nutritional status, growth, development, health, ultimately the survival of children. Even with several national schemes programs in place, India’s progress tackling problem malnutrition is slow. This study aims to estimate prevalence undernutrition factors determining among under five children rural Mysuru.Methods: A cross sectional was conducted who registered Anganwadi centres field practice area JSS Medical College. 261 were chosen as per population proportionate size sampling technique.Results: The mean age 2.8±1.2 years 86.6% belonged Below Poverty Line households.70.1% received breastfeeding within an hour birth. Exclusive 6 months provided 67.4% underweight, stunting, wasting 13.8%, 16.5%, 5.7% respectively. associated type economic card birth weight child.Conclusion: IYCF a key improve promote healthy growth development. calls attention be placed on improving promoting participatory nutrition education raise awareness, health literacy, foster behavioural change communication improved caring practices. Additionally, sociocultural determinants should addressed design interventions.
